Ingredients
- 2 cups wheat flour
- 0.75 cup water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 500 grams lamb
- 1 medium onion
- 1 tablespoon pine nuts
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon pomegranate molasses
- 0.25 cup mint
- 1 teaspoon each spices
Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, mix whole wheat flour, instant yeast, warm water, olive oil, and honey. Knead until a smooth dough forms.
- 2Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- 3Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 4In a skillet, heat a teaspoon of olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
- 5Add the lean ground lamb to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned.
- 6Stir in the pine nuts, tomato paste, pomegranate molasses, and spices. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- 7Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface and cut into circles using a round cutter.
- 8Place the dough circles on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon the lamb mixture onto each circle, leaving a small border.
- 9Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- 10Garnish with fresh mint before serving.
- 11Let the Sfiha cool slightly on a wire rack before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
- 12Serve warm or at room temperature for the best taste experience.
